Five on Friday "California Style".......

Hi everyone.  It's me, Lilly.  I'm going to be your host today for a new adventure.  It's called Five on Friday and it's hosted by Amy over at Love Made My Home.

My dear Mom, Pat, said I could go ahead and write this post since you haven't heard from me in awhile.  I've been busy.  As you know, I live to eat and sleep and in between those times, I love to hunt geckos out by the pool.  It's a busy life, I know...

So, here goes my Five on Friday California Style:

Number One

This is the view outside from the kitchen window.  I like the pink sky against the palm trees...Hey, I usually don't see this view except when my parents are away and I jump up there....

Number Two
A yummy bowl of California strawberries - too bad they're not fish flavored!

Number Three
How can you do California without the beach?  This is the pier in San Clemente.  Do you recall that President Nixon had his "western white house" in San Clemente?

Number Four
This is a flower from a succulent in the back yard.  It's great because it doesn't need much water.  We're having a drought down here in California....

Number Five
I've saved the best for last!  This is me lounging by the pool.  I'm a Maine Coon kitty but I think I look like a cool California cat :)

That's all for now.  I send you my meows and would love to hear from you.  It always makes me purr when you leave a comment.

Hugs from
Lilly xxx

  1. Welcome to Five on Friday, I love this Friday community. We have heard hear in the UK about your drought and how they want you to stop watering the grass and plants. Hope you all manage ok. Good idea to be growing succulents and plants that like a dry condition. Love that you can have strawberries now, our very first forced green house ones are just emerging in the shops but in my garden the plants have not even flowered yet, some time to wait, late June usually. Think your selfie of yourself is beautiful. I too have a cat who seems to think she rules our roost too ;)

    1. Thank you Selma, you're so kind. Yes, we are in desperate need of water. My parents put in some artificial grass to save watering the lawn. Please give my meows to your little cat. Hugs from Lilly

  5. Lovely to meet you Lilly! Your post is really great, and it is lovely to see a picture of you. I like my strawberries to be strawberry flavoured, but I can understand that cats would prefer them to be fish flavour! Thank you so much for joining in, I hope that we will hear more from you and your lovely Mom too. I hope you have a good weekend lounging by the pool! xx

  10. Lilly is definitely a cool cat! I have heard of the water shortage and it is quite worrying. I hope it rains lovely big drops to ease the dryness.

  11. A lovely set of photos, especially the one of Lilly - one very comfortable cat! I love the yellow flower. I have these in my garden, and the yellow one flowered for the first time this year, I think because we cleared a lot trees and shrubs around it, and it liked the light and the air. Our black-leafed one has never flowered and I thought it might be because it was in pot, but I see yours is too, so now I am hopeful that we will get a bloom on it next time (They flower around January here).

    1. Hi Kate. So good to hear from you. The succulent with the yellow flower was in a small clay pot. After my husband transplanted it to a big pot, it really grew by leaps and bounds and now has flowered. It's just been a couple of months growth so hopefully yours will bloom. Have a great weekend:)

  12. Oh, Lilly - you are having too much fun down there in sunny Cal! Love the views through your pretty lace curtains and that gorgeous beach! I heard about your drought and the water rationing and it makes sense to grow succulents - they are one of my favorite plants. I must say, Lilly, you look mighty comfortable lounging by the pool. Wish I could join you! xo Karen

    1. Greetings Karen, I would love to have you join me by the pool anytime. Yup, the water situation is not so good. The first winter we were down here it poured buckets; although I'm from Seattle area, I had never seen rain like that. I hope we get a huge change is our weather patterns. Hugs from me, Lilly

  13. I love the way you lounge by the pool, as if that chair was meant for cats! What a nice life you have with pretty skies, down by the beach, eating ripe strawberries! Can't stop long otherwise the crazy poodle will go bananas wanting to join in the fun...
    Nice to meet you here!

  14. You have a cat's life, and I'm just a wee bit jealous! Your lounge pose is, um, well, let's say "relaxed". I don't think I've seen cats sit like this before, but I'm more of a dog person (don't hate me!). Have a great weekend Lilly,
    Wendy
